Police Not Amused by Breakfast Prank

DALLAS (Reuters) - A police dispatcher who tasted something funny when she bit into a breakfast tortilla found it was laced with marijuana, police in a north Texas town said on Friday.

Police in The Colony said an 18-year-old fast-food worker was charged with possession and delivery of marijuana for allegedly deliberately rolling the leafy substance into a taquito, a soft tortilla with egg filling.

Benjamin Roberts knew the taquito was part of a breakfast order for several police dispatchers being picked up at 2 a.m. by a patrolman in a marked cruiser, Lt. George Wintle said.

"He could see it was a police car.... He just thought it was a funny joke,'' Wintle said.

"It kind of reminds you of an urban legend. It makes you want to check your food,'' he said.

Roberts was arrested the same day the marijuana was discovered, on Jan. 17, and faces up to six months in jail. He was also fired immediately by Whataburger, a Texas-based fast-food chain.
