Is Norton's anti virus worth me forking out £40 quid for?

Personally I prefer Kaspersky.

Norton is better than nothing.  (And you really should have something.)

Norton is as good as anything on the market for identifying when you've been infected by a virus.  Unfortunately it's not as good at actually removing some of the nastier ones.  Kaspersky seems to fare better with removal/disinfection.

Another really good product is ewido (now AVG Anti-Spyware).

Technically it's more of an anti-worm/anti-trojan than an anti-virus, but most infections these days are worms or trojans, as opposed to honest-to-god old school viruses.

I keep a copy of ewido around all the time, even if I'm not running it.  I've had a number of people bring infected machines to me, and ewido has saved the day many times.  If ewido can't clean the infection, nothing can.

UK slang for a pound (GBP, not lb.)

No.

Leave your computer unprotected, it's the safest way to go. Viruses don't exist, silly.

no its not..have you ever done bit torrent.  download utorrent from utorrent.com, download peerguardian 2 (so u dont get your balls twisted by your internet provider, govt official, random universities and corporations that want to fine you)then you can searh for websites like minnova.org, or piratebay.org, torrentscan.com and seach for zonealarm.  Zonealarm does everything norton does but dont have to renew until 25 years later and the best part is u can find a key gen with zonalarm..when you start using it u will understand that bit torrent has been around since the first computer and u can find the origiaal of anthing from movies, magazines, songs, games, sofware, whatever you want.  Make sure to read the comments before downloading a bittorrent ( u can learn weather it is a good file or bad file to download)  hope this helps mann...
